Story
Context
Neon Heart is a Brazilian feature film, genre: drama/action, written and directed by Lucas Estevan Soares and produced by Rhaissa Gonçalves. The film was screened for the first time on April 7, 2022 at Cinemark Memorial City, in Houston (USA). From then on, it participated in several national and international film festivals, premiering in Brazilian movie theaters on March 9, 2023. Neon Heart received several nominations, being awarded at the Moscow International Film Festival, in Russia, at the WorldFest Houston, in the United States, and at FestCine Pedra Azul, in Espírito Santo, Brazil.
The New Brazilian Popular Cinema
Neon Heart had its European premiere at the 75th Marché du Film, at the Cannes Film Festival, in France. Neon Heart was cited by critics as "The New Brazilian Popular Cinema". This means that the film strikes the perfect balance between commercial cinema and auteur cinema.
1st Brazilian Dolby Atmos 9.1 Film
The film is the first Brazilian film with Dolby Atmos 9.1 "immersive sound" technology, which places the viewer in a "bubble" in which sound can be emitted from any position, depending on what happens in the film, allowing the listener to perceive the difference between sounds received from different directions.

Production
Production Neon Heart
Neon Heart was produced by Rhaissa Gonçalves and Lucas Estevan Soares through the International House of Cinema (IHC), which financed 100% of the US$320K budget used in the project with its own resources, raised by its work developed in the United States. The independent production, in the "guerilla cinema" style, did not use public financing resources. During the distribution phase, the film brought on board one more private investor, the tech entrepreneur Mehdi Avdi, who invested an additional US$100K directed toward marketing and distribution costs.
The feature film was filmed in the second half of 2019 in Curitiba, in the Boqueirão neighborhood, with post-production being carried out during the covid-19 pandemic. The first Brazilian film finished with Dolby Atmos immersive sound technology, the film featured a cast entirely drawn from the Curitiba art scene.
The idea for the project came from director Lucas Estevan Soares' fascination with the dynamics of singing telegram car services (something totally unique to Brazil), and he then imagined a chase involving one of these vehicles, materialized in the film as "Boquelove", the nickname for the blue 1975 Ford Corcel that gives the film its name.
